Don't Change
Here's the first, and probably best, of what I hope to be a few upcoming entries.

It turns out that the Japanese version of Love is a Four Letter Word contained an exclusive bonus track. Fortunately, a few RKOP members are awesome and ordered the import through Amazon so they could share the track with the rest of us. The song, "Don't Change" (aka "Don't Chage at All", aka "Gentleman") is one Mraz has been playing live for a while now and is well served in its studio version. I understand that it doesn't quite fit the overall theme of the album, but it's such a great song I'm surprised it didn't make the cut. Check out the fan-created lyric video and feel free to grab the MP3 I posted to Mediafire. I'd love to hear what you think of it.

MP3 - Don't Change

It's Been Too Long
Good day folks! So nothing new on the Mraz front right? No reason to update in the last few months. It's not like J put out a new album or announced a nationwide tour or hit #2 on the album charts or has been all over TV, radio and the internet. What's that? All that stuff has happened? Damn, where the hell was I?

The short answer is that I've been busy, the long answer you couldn't possibly care about so let's just pick things up here.

What do you think of the new album?
Hitting any of the upcoming shows?
Catch Mraz on TV and want to vent about the hair?

Actually, keep that last one to yourself, but any other Mraz related chatter is welcome.

In the next few days I'll have a tune or two to share with ya'll as I try and catch up on some uploading and linking that I've been slacking on and with the tour kicking off in the not too distant future I'm going to try and post more regular updates along with any uploads that present themselves.

I hope everyone is enjoying the new record and I'd welcome any thoughts you'd care to share. Hopefully some of you still actually check LJ from time to time.

Not the Happiest of Updates...
First the positive and more directly Mraz-related news. Philly from Team Mraz confirmed on RKOP that the leaked tracklist from a couple of weeks ago IS NOT in fact accurate. She didn't elaborate at all, but for those who were less than thrilled about that selection of songs there's still hope for your favorites.

In other news, J's recent appearance on Nick Jr's Fresh Beat Band is now online thanks to RKOP's always on the ball uploader Eric. You can watch all the Mraz bits from the episode (condensed to save you from having to sit through a 45 minute kid's show) on Eric's Facebook page.

Now on to the less than great news, at least from a personal standpoint. As all of you are probably aware, I maintain an online Mraz MP3 & Video collection in order to share with old and new fans alike. Unfortunately, it turns out that Mediafire now limits the length of time files are stored on their server (when I signed up for Mediafire back in the day, this wasn't the case). As a result, and unbeknownst to me until recently, many of the files in my Mediafire folder have expired and are no longer available. Some may stil be there but there's no way for me to tell what remains and what's gone.

As a result I'm in the market for a new hosting solution, ideally with a similar interface and layout to make it as easy as possible for both uploading and downloading of individual files. The main appeal with Mediafire was that I could upload thing and forget about them and people could head over there whenever they wanted and grab just one song or a bunch. I've looked around and I can already tell I'm going to miss having Mediafire as a long-term option. I welcome any and all suggestions of options I should explore.

In the meantime, if you find there's a song or video on Medifire that you want and it's not available anymore shoot me a message or a comment and I'll do what I can to get it uploaded for you (though it may take me a little while to get to it). I have to say, I'm pretty bummed about this. Those files took quite a while to upload and organize and the thought of trying to do it all over again is less than appealing.

Old Mraz Mini-Documentaries
Someone commented in my Mraz downloads post that they were looking for these old mini-documentaries. They used to be posted on the Mraz Youtube channel, but were taken down when Youtube and the record labels had their little spat a few years back. These are just links to the vids online as the quality isn't the best and downloading and uploading them all would be a huge task.

Anyway, these are fun clips so if you haven't seen them have a look.

Possible Leaked Track List for New Album + Release Date Confusion
UPDATE - 02/01: Philly, RKOP admin and member of the Mraz management team just posted this to the album thread on RKOP: "Yikes, where on earth did that tracklisting come from? Incorrect." So, it would seem we've yet to see what J truly has in store for us.

Afternoon all! A quick news post to point out this thread on RKOP which contains details of a possible release date change to April 13th (from the previously announced May 8th). All of the info seems to be coming from over seas sites (see post #30 in that linked thread), so there's some speculation that there may be different dates for the US and international releases. No solid info from the Mraz camp just yet, I'll keep you posted.

That news was quickly overshadowed by an online posting of what looks like it could be the official track list for the still untitled album (post #43 in the thread linked above). The site, posted and then quickly removed the track list from its online store, but not before it was screen grabbed by one of the RKOP regulars. This same site did something similar with We Sing, We Dance, We Steal things and the track list ended up being accurate. Once again, no word from the Mraz camp, but check the leaked unofficial list after the jump.

I'm interested to hear what you all think. You can read my full thoughts and the ongoing discussion in that thread on RKOP.

UPDATE: At his Sundance performance on Friday, Mraz revealed that the album will be titled "Love is a four letter word".

New Album Release Date: May 8th
Just a quick news blast to say the RKOP twitter broke the news that J's new album will be released on May 8th. There was also an information-packed Billboard article that went up yesterday. I'll link the article at the bottom but here are the pertinent facts, bullet point style:

-"I Won't Give Up" will debut at #8 on the singles charts on the strength of it's continued #1 showing on the digital charts, selling over 229,000 copies.

-The song was recorded as a full band tune for the album but was recently re-recorded acoustically for the lyric video release (there's no indication which version will make the record).

-A full-fledged video for "I Won't Give Up" will be made sometime in the coming weeks to accompany the wide release and promotion of the single to radio in late February.

-Jason will perform the song live on NBC's Today Show February 16th, two days after the song gets an actual physical CD single release on Valentine's day.

You can read the whole article HERE.

Nice to finally have a release date.
